Found…Rest in His Presence

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep. Psalm 36:5-6

We measure everything: food, clothes, opportunities, performance, success.
We measure food by counting calories, carbs, and/or sugar.
We measure body image by the amount of pounds on the scale or the way our clothes fit.
We measure our opportunities against the opportunities we see our friends receive.
We measure performance by success, and success by our performance!

To imagine something beyond measure is hard for us to wrap around our conditioned, measuring minds.

When I express how hard it is to imagine a love so deep and wide, I know I am not alone.
In a place of solitude, King David could not find anything to measure God’s love against except heaven, the sky, the highest mountains, and the deepest ocean.
He concludes that God’s vast love is priceless.

The great “worth” attributed to His love, makes Him alone worthy of praise.
God led the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, and after their deliverance, He led them by smoke and by fire. When they settled, He dwelt among them in the tabernacle; from the temporary tabernacle His presence moved into the stationary temple. Then, God gave the greatest love-offering sacrifice and the temple veil tore in two – from the top down. The torn temple veil gives you and I direct access into God’s heart – the Holy of Holies. After Jesus rose, He left us with the Comforter. The Comforter, or Holy Spirit, was sent to live in the hearts of believers.

We have direct access to the heart of hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Gone: Separation.
Found: Confidence of a priceless, unfailing, and eternal love.
Found: Rest in His presence under a heavenly shelter.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7

The next time you look around to measure, remember the depth and breadth of the sacrificial love.
You don’t have to measure up – it’s unconditional. It is priceless and so are you, my friend.
Now, you may rest.

O that more of Adam’s race knew the excellency of the heavenly shelter! It made Jesus weep to see how they refused it: our tears may well lament the same evil. Charles Spurgeon

Awesome. When I started reading, I was immediately thinking of the Third Day song as I read Psalm 36:5-6 We truly are so very blessed and still so naive to how much our Creator loves us. Thank you for sharing today!

Over thirteen years ago, when God was moving my family to a new location, this song was my theme song for that season. I was reminded that His presence is everywhere – so high, so deep, and so wide. I knew He would be with us regardless of our physical location. I hadn’t listened to it for a while, however, when I was reading Psalm 36 this week, I was immediately reminded of it. At this exact time, my family is in another season of transition. Once again, “Your Love, Oh Lord” is one of my favorites for this season. How perfect is HIS #priceless love for us!

Loved the different verses you included! I agree, it is overwhelming sometimes to think of His love. Thank you for sharing!

Yes, it’s hard to wrap our finite minds around something infinite!
