Praying at the Throne of Grace & Mercy
Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:1
Last night our girls’ softball team won the District Championship Tournament! At the end of the last inning, the batter prepared to hit, and she smacked the ball into the fence! The ball flew over the outfielders’ heads, which allowed the runner on 3rd base to go home! The crowd went wild when the base-runner crossed home plate. We won!
The student-athlete had the confidence needed to swing hard! Her confidence at the plate came from the assurance she felt after many hours of practice on the field. The result – VICTORY for our team!
Where does confidence come from?
In life we understand:
Confidence comes from assurance;
Assurance comes from practice;
And practice comes from a beginning;
Everyone has to begin somewhere.
Our faith is the same way.
There is a point in time, or a season in our lives, when we realize God is calling us, and we have to decide if we will answer the call.
It’s God who moves us out of the darkness and into the light (1 Peter 2:9).
He calls us, empowers us, and equips us.
When He equips us, we get to go to practice! It’s not the kind of practice that we have to do, instead it’s a kind of practice that we want to do. The more time we spend in God’s Word, the more we long to be in His presence – in the Spirit – learning truth.
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24 (NASB)
When Christ died, the veil was torn and grace abounded!
We may approach God directly – wherever we are and whenever we want to!
May you approach the throne of grace with confidence. May the Scripture you know in your head move to your heart, so that you feel the peace of God which surpasses all understanding.
Mercy and grace are found in His presence and fill the Spirit, so that we are able to live fully and receive help in our time of need.
What part of your day do you spend with Him – when and where do you feel His presence?
