{Book Review} Girls with Swords: How to Carry Your Cross Like a Hero by Lisa Bevere
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17 (NIV)
We surrender our white flags to God, and He places a sword into our hands for the next battle.
Valiant warrior, you are equipped with the most powerful sword – the cross, otherwise known as The Word of God.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 (ESV)
GODS WORD = GOD SWORD
In Girls with Swords: How to Carry Your Cross Like a Hero by Lisa Bevere, author and human rights advocate, Lisa writes that God’s Word is our sword and we need to fight daily with truth.
Believers have been entrusted with a sword, and God provides the power behind the sword.
Now is not the time to draw back in fear. It is a time when we must rise up and flourish in love. Lisa Bevere
We are equipped for battle every day, it’s up to us to use our swords.
Everything we need or will need is hidden in His Word, and we search is out like buried treasure! Lisa Bevere
In our world today, where peace should be found, it’s not present. God’s Word brings healing, and God’s Word brings peace.
Cosmetic surgery or superficial healing accomplishes little when what is needed is a heart transplant. Lisa Bevere
God’s Word leads us and guides us, if we choose to follow it. God’s Word points us in the right direction.
The sword of God’s Word will separate earthly motives from heaven’s intent. Lisa Bevere
Pick up your Swords because, “We have no greater defense than the Word of God.” Lisa Bevere
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
The battle is bigger than what we can see – don’t give up!
You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it. Margaret Thatcher
Battles happen and victories occur. Press on!
When you dream you must know that there will be a fight. We are a part of something greater than what we can see. God’s Word has worked through people of the faith family before, just as it is working through you.
And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Hebrews 11:39-40
In Christ you are a part of a great lineage of believers. You are equipped for the battle, may you walk confidently into it!
We are linked to the long chain made out of their lives. We are part of the final act in their ongoing story. All of their heroic acts are waiting to be completed when they are joined together with ours. Lisa Bevere
Lisa’s writing is open and honest. Lisa’s research based on God’s Word instills confidence and gives strategies for fighting the battle before us!
