Cast it Away

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

When the world changes quickly and our “normal” does not exist anymore, anxiety moves in and weighs heavily on our hearts.

  • How fast will the sickness spread?
  • How long we will be asked to keep our distance socially?
  • Will my friends, family, and loved ones get sick.
  • How will the sickness affect each one of us?

We can worry and try to carry the weight of the world ourselves, or can get quiet in our homes and pay attention and humble ourselves and pray.

We pray for the virus to subside.
We pray for sickness to stop spreading.
We pray for those who are sick to be healed.
We pray for the health and protection of our families.
We pray for the economy.
We pray for our country, the leaders, and the medical workers.
We pray for a miracle. We pray for help from heaven.
We pray for a spiritual awakening in the name of Jesus.

And when we begin to pray, something happens.
The weight of the world shifts from our shoulders to His.

Pray. Lean in. Listen.

And we pay attention and we remember.

We remember He is the Creator of all things created.
We remember He was present in the beginning of time, He is present today, and He will be present tomorrow.
We remember that He has known great pain. He gave you His Son on the cross. We remember that after the pain He felt great joy.
We remember that He still holds the whole world in His hands.

He cares for you.
Pray. Lean in. Listen.

Heavenly Father, Help us to remember all of the times You have brought us through difficult times in the past. We are in a difficult time right now, and our hearts weigh heavily with anxiety about “what is to come.” We need to remember how You have brought us through in the past so that we can trust that You will bring us through today.
As I cast my anxiety to You, please fill my heart with a peace that transcends all understandig, which can only come from Your presence.
In the precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen

Cast your anxiety to Him. He care for you.
