Change is Certain. Christ is Constant. {Happy Monday!}

Change is Certain. Christ is Constant.

Even before Covid hit, my co-workers and I had a running joke, when life hits us hard, we have a choice on how we will react. We may either collapse to cry in a ball on the floor, or we can look up, praise God for his presence, and laugh because we could not have ever written this script!

When I was a child, I got stuck on what was called the largest wooden roller coaster in the country. My friend and I sat in the back car, and after our first trip, our safety bar would not rise. It was stuck! The ride operators kept the roller coaster going repeatedly, and we just stayed in the back car to enjoy the ride! The first couple of times, I enjoyed the hills, and my stomach felt okay, then I started to get sick and weary, and I was ready to get off!!

Have you felt like you have been stuck on the same roller coaster lately?! Our stories have highs and lows, and I don’t know about you, but I am ready to get off this roller coaster ride!

And then I lean in, and my Heavenly Father pulls me close to gently remind me with his perfect whisper — I’m not finished with you yet.

I’m pretty sure this season is the reason YHWH has been bringing me back to Exodus three over and over again.

It is like a parent saying to a child, how many times do I have to remind you?

In Exodus three, God reveals Himself to Moses at the burning bush. God tells Moses He is to deliver the children of Israel.

But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?’ And He said, ‘Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.’ Then Moses said to God, ‘Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?’ God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM’; and He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ God, furthermore, said to Moses, ‘Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘ The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.’ Exodus 3:1-16 (NASB)

Amid the craziness, God reminds me He is the same God who was with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and many more, including Jesus – “I am that I am,” the self-existent One. Apart from everything else, I exist. I have always existed. I exist today and will exist tomorrow. I am immutable and unchangeable for all generations to come!

He was, He is, He is to come.

Here is what I’m trying to remember today:

  1. Nothing is a surprise to God. He has seen it all because He knows all. Today is not a surprise to Him.

  2. Remember, we are in a spiritual battle. The world is constantly changing because we live in a fallen world! Change is certain. Christ is constant.

They will perish, but you endure; they will all wear out like a garment. You change them like clothing, and they pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end. Psalm 102:26-27
  3. You are prepared for today. He has prepared & equipped you to walk in “such a time as this.”

  4. You are not alone. I’m in the battle on the front lines with you. I’ve got your back. This is what Moses is to remember: God is going with him. We can trust that also.

God Created you for Today

If you are a student-athlete, be fearless to stand for Christ.
If you are a parent, be fearless in discipleship.
If you are a coach, be fearless in 3D coaching.
If you are a teacher or administrator, know your role and be fearless in meeting parents and students right where they are.

To each one of you, embrace your place.

Remember whose presence is with you and goes before you. You do not need to hide or be fearful. You are not alone. You have everything you need to face today!

Students, friends, family, teachers, coaches, administrators, you’ve got this today because He has you.

These words come from God’s word.
God’s Word is true. God’s Word is enough.
You are so loved.

Many Blessings on this Monday!
