God is on the Move

God is on the move and using the ministry of South Coastal FCA to gather students, athletes, coaches, teachers, and administrators and meet them right where they are. What an honor and a privilege it is to see His fingerprints on so many lives! This ministry update is only a glimpse of what is happening in our area! 

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Ephesians 1:3 (NLT) 

Hey, Do You Want to Go to Passion? 

After we identified our Word to lead us closer to The Word for 2022, we took a trip to the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA with over 50 college students and high school seniors! The students gathered, worshipped, and grew spiritually under the teaching of speakers such as Tim Tebow, Sadie Robertson, Louie Giglio, Jackie Hill Perry, Jennie Allen and more with over 55,000 college students. What an honor it was to witness God move through this generation, and to see them let go of what has been holding them back before they go back to their respective campuses to live boldly for Christ. 

Creating Space to Remember 

The FCA Campus Huddle at Hilton Head Prep held a special sunrise beach huddle in honor of our beloved student John Berrigan on January 19, 2022 to remember and celebrate his eternal life. I shared a message from Mrs. Berrigan and these words that John lived by from Mother Teresa: 

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. 
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. 
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. 
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. 
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. 
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. 
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. 
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

[THE] Huddle: for women 

God truly knit our hearts together as one through [THE] Huddle: for women that went live on January 22, 2022! South Coastal FCA held [THE] Huddle: hometown at FBC Hilton Head Island with some of my FCA Home Team (from up and down the East Coast) and local coaches and friends and South Coastal FCA held a huddle in Hampton County as well! [THE] Huddle: for women continues to be used weekly in person and online by FCA staff nationally and internationally!

Coaches Huddles, Leadership Huddles, Campus Huddles and character building Team Huddles continue to thrive!

E3 Discipleship Training 

During the Hilton Head Prep leadership huddle called “FCA Overtime” we are traveling through FCA’s E3 curriculum for discipleship: Engage, Equip, and Empower! 

The Church Mouse Grant 

Haylee and Abi received a grant from The Church Mouse to cover the cost of their FCA huddle’s t-shirts AND chicken biscuits for the rest of the semester! 

Heart & Soul Dinner 

The Heart & Soul annual fundraising dinner took place in person this year at The Sonesta Resort! We fellowshipped, staff shared their callings to ministry, new staff were introduced, and the mantle of leadership was passed from Paul Cifaldi to Rob Jacobs, South Coastal FCA’s new Director!

RealTime 2022

Our team and our spouses attended RealTime 2022 in San Antonio, Texas with FCA Staff from EVERY state and 44 countries the last weekend in February! 

You can’t force it, you can’t fake it, you fruit it! JOY! -Pastor Dan Lian 

Together we laughed, we cried, we learned, we worshipped, we ate a lot of food, we fellowshipped and we had fun as God restored our JOY and prepared our hearts to reach EVERY for such a time as this! We also connected in person with our International staff which was priceless. 

One of the most precious moments of the experience was hearing from our own Abi as she shared a part of her salvation and discipleship story with the entire audience of 2,000+! Through camp experiences, leadership huddles, campus huddles, multi-campus huddles, and team huddles, God has met Abi and He has grown her in wisdom and stature. While she has dealt with the adversity and hardships that have come against her, Abi has found JOY in Jesus and she can’t help but let HIS light shine! 

FCA All Abilities Camp 

EVERY student has the opportunity to participate in campus huddles and now EVERY student may participate in FCA Camp with our new FCA All Abilities Camp! Let’s Go! 

Bold & Beautiful II

Last year I was asked to be one of the writers for FCA’s new Bold & Beautiful bible study which released this March. By providing a biblical perspective on the issues faced by many female athletes, things like wisdom, boldness, beauty, worth, and strength, we hope athletes will understand true beauty and how being strong and competitive can also be godly and feminine. Following God’s Plan 

God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Ephesians 1:9-10 (NLT) 

We are remembering what God has done in the past, while holding on to our Living Hope for the future, as we trust Him with tomorrow.

The next few months will continue to be full, except the hugs will last a little longer and conversations will be sweeter as we savor the moments of our time in South Carolina.

Jon will transition this summer into the Head of School position at Montverde Academy and I will continue to serve in FCA for women and sports in Florida!
