Back To School: A Prayer for My Child
{Please adjust the words of this prayer for your own child (boy/girl) entering the new school year. Many blessings!}
A Back-to-School Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I praise You for who You are and the precious time You gave our family this summer to unwind, reconnect, and reset.
Thank You for planning for my child and creating her in Your perfect and unique way. Watching her grow into who You have created her to be is so much fun for me. I am grateful she is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your precious image (Psalm 139:13-14, Genesis 1:26).
Please help her to feel confident in who she is in You before she enters campus this year. Thank You for blessing her with specific strengths and gifts. May her teachers and coaches help her to hone them, and may they bring You glory. May she rely entirely on You in areas where she is weak, and may she remember You are doing a great work in her life today, and You will continue to work in her and through her tomorrow (Philippians 1:6).
May You open the eyes of my child’s heart so she can see where she may be Your hands and feet in this hurting world (Ephesians 1:18). Help her to reach out to those who are new, afraid, or feeling different. Please help her lend a helping hand where needed and do not look the other way.
Most of all, Father God, please help me to remember You loved her first, and You love her even more than I do (1 John 4:19). Please protect her physically, emotionally, and spiritually as she enters this new school year.
All of these things I pray in Jesus’ precious name,
Amen
