Moving Forward: Will You Answer The Call?

He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?” Luke 24:38 (NIV)

Will you answer the call? If my phone rings during dinner, homework, or family time, I will not pick it up.  I try to protect my attention towards my husband and children during those times.
The key is finding the right time to return the phone call.  However, that’s not the call I’m talking about.  20131030-184347.jpg

But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel,
‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!’ Isaiah 43:1 (NASB)

He creates you; He redeems you; then, He calls you.
He created you with His purpose in mind.
He gave you unique experiences – some good, and some not so good experiences. We ALL have them.  There is not a brokenness scale.  It’s all bad.  It’s all painful.  It’s all sin.
Wounds on our hearts may be brought upon by ourselves, or may have been given to us by others.  WHATEVER they are… The blood of Jesus can fill them and make you whole again.
The pains of the past draw us to Him for comfort.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2nd Corinthians 1:3-5

The Father calls you by name to do a task, which only you can do, because of the unique experiences you have in you. The Hebrew word is qara which means to invite, commission, or appoint someone over a certain task.

God comforts us through the pains of our past so that we can comfort others… After He has healed us and redeemed us, we must use our mess and make it His message.

While in the wilderness, God called Moses and gave him the task of delivering the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses reacted with these words, just like you or I may have responded, “Who am I?”

The call was clear, the task was daunting, and because of a shady past, Moses did not feel qualified.

The qualifications Moses thought he needed were different from the ones God knew he had.

God answered Moses with these words, “I AM, Who I AM” (Exodus 3:14).

In other words, “It’s not about you Moses. It’s all about what I am going to do through you. Will you let go of your past and answer the call of your future?”

While Jesus was alive, he told His disciples His body would be raised in three days.

So, why are they so full of doubt when they see him alive after the crucifixion? (Luke 24:38)

God uses the pain of our past to birth to something beautiful in our future.  He keeps His promises.  He wants us to keep our eyes on Him and move forward.

He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.  Phil 1:6

Has He called you to do a mighty task? If so, will you answer the call?
It’s not about you (Who am I?), but all about what He (I AM) wants to do through you.

Beautiful! The truth of knowing that God wants to use our mess for HIs message is compelling and a wonderful reminder that He knows us inside and out and still loves us unfailingly. Thank you for your encouragement today.

“The Father calls you by name to do a task, which only you can do, because of the unique experiences you have in you.” It helps to bring us comfort to know that what we have gone through, or are still going through, God will use for His glory. We just need to keep #MovingForward and keep our eyes on Jesus. Thank you for sharing with us. I have been blessed by reading your blog today.
