Reconnect and Rest
He makes me lie down in green pastures… Psalm 23:2a (NASB)
Contentment is found when our restless hearts relinquish into the loving, caring, and protective arms of The Good Shepherd.
Our hearts have all been a little restless these days. Until we are content and free from fear, tensions, and hunger, it is hard to be led to rest.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NASB)
When we quiet our hearts we relize, The Good Shepherd gives us plenty. He fills us with the power of the Holy Spirit so we may rest in abundance in His presence.
Even on days when we feel incomplete or when we are lacking might, His grace still covers us, fills weary hearts, and reconnects us to His heavenly presence.
Each day, God gives us just encough to be satisfied. We realize how we no longer need to keep up with everything of this world because it will truly never be enough.
To men and women everywhere Jesus says, ‘Come unto me, and I will give you rest.’ The rest He offers is the rest of meekness, the blessed relief which comes when we accept ourselves for what we are and cease to pretend. ―
Complete satisfaction comes from what was finished on the cross, and with repentant hearts, we rest in the abundance of His plentiful love, mercy, and grace.
Full hearts find rest in His presence and He is always present.
The Good Shepherd’s presence is a place of peace and safety.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 (NASB)
May you let Him lead you out of dryness to rest in the safety of the green pasture He provides for you today, and soon there will be quiet waters.
Heavenly Father, I praise You for being my Shepherd. Thank You for filling my weary heart with peace, mercy, and grace. In Your presence I lack nothing. From pasture to pasture I hope to follow You and find rest. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
