Where is Contentment Found?

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 (NASB)

Contentment

Similar to a parent, a shepherd knows his flock well. The shepherd cares for his sheep. He provides exactly what they need. He leads them and protects them when trouble arises.

In the shepherd’s presence, sheep have everything they need. In the shepherd’s presence, we lack nothing.

Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God. -A.W. Tozer

In His Presence

Our Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need, both physically and spiritually. He feeds us. He nourishes us. He provides for us. He saves us.

God knew we needed to be reconciled back to Himself, so He sent His Son to us. God’s Son died, but rose again to become the Ultimate Shepherd of the ultimate flock with one eternal covenant.

Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord. Hebrews 13:20 (NASB)

He is The Good Shepherd and if you choose to believe in Him, you become a part of His flock. He brings you into the fold. Faith is born.

Contentment, or complete satisfaction, may not be found in the world. It cannot be bought or brought by any human being or substance.

Contentment is found is the person of Jesus Christ. When the Lord becomes your Shepherd, your focus shifts from wanting more things to lacking nothing. At that moment, you may rest in Him and His provisions.

Contentment is found in His presence, and He is always present.

You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11 (NASB)

Contentment, or joy, is found in the presence of the One who laid down His life for you.

I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11 (NASB)

The presence of The Good Shepherd allows for comfort, peace, and joy to come to weary souls through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Will you rest in Him and allow for Him to fill you and lead you?

The Good Shepherd cares for you. He cares for His flock at all times, and leads the flock through both good times and hard times.

In the hard times, He reminds us of His presence, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
In the hard times, He keeps us focused on the big picture.
In the hard times, He reminds us today is only a snapshot of the big picture and He still holds the whole world in His hands.

There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘All right, then, have it your way.’ -C.S. Lewis

The Good Shepherd has our best interests in mind. In the hard times, we learn to trust Him completely.

In the hard times, we learn how much we are deeply loved by The Good Shepherd.

I am Full

In the presence of the Ultimate Shepherd He knows our names, we lack nothing, we are content, and our hearts are abundantly full!

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your presence in my life, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I praise You for looking out for me by going ahead of me and always having my best interests in mind. I praise You for the nourishment You provide both physically and spiritually. During this time, I am grateful because I lean in and know You love me. You are right here with me walking through the valley. I have everything I need. My heart is full and I am content. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen
