The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. Psalm 118:22

I’m not quite sure what we expected when we arrived to our new, yet much older home.  I think we were hoping that with a few paint touch-ups it would be move-in ready!

Since that wasn’t the case, for the past two weeks we have worked tirelessly trying to re-paint, replace missing baseboards, molding, and mirrors, create shelves, clean-up the house inside and outside, and unpack boxes – to not only fix the house, but make it our home.

Each day it is getting closer to what we hope it will be, but since my husband is a constant improver and the house will need to be maintained, there will always be work to do.

It is a work in progress…

IMG_0866Isn’t that how our lives are when we come to know God?

The moment one commits his or her life to God, he or she becomes a new creation and the power of the Holy Spirit begins construction.    The construction project on our life begins when Jesus moves from being a stumbling block to the cornerstone of our lives.  God continually molds us, shapes us, and guides us into His perfect masterpiece.

Have you never read in the Scriptures,’ said Jesus, ‘The Stone which the builders rejected has been made the Cornerstone: this Cornerstone came from the Lord, and is wonderful in our eyes’? Matthew 21:42

With Him as our new foundation, the Holy Spirit works in and throughout every circumstance cleaning-up and cleaning-out each aspect of our lives that does not bring Him honor and glory.

Regardless of our mess, He makes ALL things new.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2nd Corinthians 5:17

The process of becoming more and more Christ-like (sanctification) begins when one commits himself or herself to following God, and it builds progressively throughout a believer’s life until we are ultimately re-united with Christ.

Our lives are a work in progress, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we become more beautiful day by day.
