Found: Consistency {In an Ever-Changing World}

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NASB)

In this life two things are certain:
1.  Our lives will change
2.  God remains the same

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)

After Moses passed away, Joshua led the Israelites.  God told Joshua He would give him every place where he set his foot.  His territory would be great and no one would be able to stand against him all the days of his life, because God had his back.

As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.  Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.  Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:5-9

God told Joshua success would come if he stayed in the word and obeyed all that had been taught before.  God would NEVER leave him.

People have gone before us, so that we may learn from them.   When change comes we may continue to stand strong in order to not make the same mistakes.

Our lives change, our God does not.  From the beginning of time we have been placed here on this earth to bring consistency back to an every changing environment and race.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 (ESV)

When we were younger our lives changed as a result of decisions our parents made.  From two parent homes, to one parent homes, to a move or a change of friends – it’s certain we have experienced change, we are experiencing change, and we will experience change.  Our tastes in food change and our tastes in music and clothes changes.  If we even begin to doubt that change occurs, we can take a look at our bodies – YES, change occurs!

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.  2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Contentment comes when our focus to find consistency shifts from what is seen, to what is unseen.

We are taught to remain in God’s love so that we won’t tie our happy to anything but God. Lysa TerKeurst

That’s the way God wants it.  In His perfect timing He opens our eyes, so that we see He is the only thing constant.  He never changes.

If our happy is tied to God, then we are not wrecked when change happens all around us.

I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ Lamentations 3:24

In a changing world, God’s love is unchanging.

Dear Lord, I praise you for being unchanging in this ever-changing world we live in.  I praise you for helping us see that even when change occurs in our lives, you are constant.  Thank you for helping us tie our happy to you ~ our Rock.  Thank you for the law you provided to Joshua and the grace your provide to us.  We are grateful.  May we continue to fix our gaze on you each morning and breathe deep your mercies.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Is your life changing all around you?  Have you fixed your gaze on Him?

“If our happy is tied to God…” I love phrases that bring a cause/effect relationship to mind. With any concern, I can ask, “if my happy is tied to God…” then…will I still be concerned? How much will the outcome matter? Thank you for sharing! Check out my #beneficial post at: http://www.groundswellministries.org/2014/02/19/on-that-which-is-beneficial/
