A New Season {Fall 2019 Ministry Update}

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3 NIV

It’s a New Season

When Jon and I moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina I knew I would move into ministry, but I did not understand God’s timing. So many times when one hears a call, we think it will be right away. But for me it wasn’t, so I served where I could, and helped where I was needed, and I let God lead.

November 2, 2019

While I continue to help Jon at Hilton Head Prep, this fall I was also hired by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to serve as an Area Representative in the South Coastal Area.

All the volunteer ministry experience with women, children and youth and the FCA campus, leadership, and team huddles I have organized and led over the past 15 years have come together in this new season.

HHHS Campus Huddle

So far this new season has been full of meeting with new teacher sponsors, administrators, and coaches and working with students to run campus huddles. I oversee four campus huddles at three area schools and three leadership huddles and there are a few team and coaches huddles on the horizon that we hope to start soon!

Leadership Training

The SouthCoastal FCA staff led leadership training in the beginning of the school year to help the student leaders learn how to be a follower of One in order to go into the world and lead others. The theme this year is “Let’s Go!” and we are ready!

Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ Matthew 28:18-20 NIV

Fields of Faith

Every fall one of my favorite events is Fields of Faith. All of the FCA huddles from the area schools join together on football fields across the nation for this event.

At Fields of Faith, there is live worship, scripture is read, and students from high school and college (USCB) share their personal stories about how God became alive in their hearts and how He has moved in their lives.

Students, parents, teachers, family members, and the community attend Fields of Faith and this year, once again, many hearts were moved.

I was involved from the beginning this year and this event became even more special to me as I watched some of the senior students I have encouraged and/or taught for so many years share their stories.

In every huddle, meeting, or event my goal is for hearts to be encouraged and united by God’s love so that they will understand the mystery of God and find wisdom and knowledge from Him (Colossians 2:2-3) so that they may go into the world for Christ.

Speaking and Writing

And in this new season I continue to speak at women’s ministry events as much as I am available and I write often.

Before we left Florida, six years ago, I began writing devotionals for the Advent season which marks a time of heart preparation as we prepare for the birth of Christ. My family reads through the devotionals every year during the Advent season and this year they are ready to be shared with you!
