God, Please Give Me a Fresh Perspective

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will, (Romans 12:2).

IMG_9379_2Over the years my heart has prayed with…
high school seniors looking for wisdom, discernment, and God’s will after high school.
international students as they try to move out of homesickness and figure out who they are in a new country, with a new language and new friends.
students whose families were falling apart and students whose families were doing well.
parents whose children were struggling and students struggling with their parents.
moms who have lost a child and children who have lost a parent.
single women looking for spouses.
married women in very tough places.
our family for direction and protection, and we have prayed with our own children for wisdom and discernment.
our nation for our country and for the world.

IMG_5076Because deep down inside we know, that when everything else is falling apart, God is our refuge.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being, (John 1:1-3).

God wrote this beautiful story we live in today and He alone knows the beginning, the middle, and the end.

God is, “the author and perfecter of faith,” (Hebrews 12:2).

We want His vision for today and His vision our lives.

In God’s Word with prayer we seek God’s will for today.
In God’s Word with prayer He gives us a fresh perspective.

The Word helps us see the world.

IMG_9400_2The Word shifts my perspective from self to Savior.
The Word ignites the Spirit of the Living God in my repentant heart.
The Word fills our empty hearts with overflowing gratitude.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God, (1 Peter 1:23).

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever, (Isaiah 40:8).

In an ever-changing world, I want to rely on a never-changing God.

The Word gives perspective and direction in ever-changing times.

The Word provides the power to know God’s will and the power to carry it out in your life.

In a world full of darkness, the Word brings us together as One to shine The Light.

Suffering without Christ reveals our need for Him.
Suffering with Christ reveals our reliance on Him and our hope in Him.

So this is what we do today (right where we are, with the people God has placed you with for this moment):
We pray.
We comfort those who need comforting.
We love those who need loving.
We listen to those who need listening.
We wrap our arms around those who are lonely.
We cry with those who are crying.
We mourn with those who are morning.
We feed those who are hungry… and in all things, we seek His face for guidance and direction.

We place our trust in our Living Hope, because according to His Word... “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain,” (Revelation 21:4).

The Word gives us a fresh perspective and the Spirit gives us the strength to move from where our hearts were, to the fullness of where we are today.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength, (Philippians 4:13, NIV)

Heavenly Father,
I praise you for Your Word.  Thank you for giving it to me for direction and guidance in this ever-changing world. I praise you for the hearts You have knit together over the years through The Word.  Together we come to You humbly, with open hearts, for You to fill us with wisdom, discernment, and comfort which only You can give.  May you fill our empty, searching hearts with an awareness of Your sacrificial love, so that we may have “Attitudes of Gratitude.” Today and always we are grateful for the cross, which provided and continues to provide our Living Hope.  May You put us in places to shine The Light for others to see You.  In You we find refuge and grace. In you we find peace.  In You we find the strength to move forward today, because in You we find hope and deep, everlasting joy. Thank You.  Thank You.
In the precious name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

I am praying for you to find wisdom in the Word today…
Many blessings,
Mindy-2

This post is so timely for me. Felt I could see the Spirit guiding exactly all you wrote. For about a week now I’ve been studying scripture about the word: “word.” Everything you write so freshly aligns with what the Bible reveals about the Word. “The Word shifts my perspective from self to Savior. The Word ignites the Spirit of the Living God in my repentant heart. The Word fills our empty hearts with overflowing gratitude.” <— There is so much beautiful detail housed in those descriptions… but I can't think of a better or more accurate summary of the functions of God's Word in our lives than what you wrote! You've articulated its dimensions so wonderfully.

Recently I've come to know God's Word in a new, personal way…. as my life float amidst rising waters, the cleansing wash my heart needs when iniquity held within is finally released, and the only hope of turning my thoughts and heart toward God when the enemy swells in overwhelming numbers to dominate my spirit and mindset. After searching the scriptures for days and gathering every description of God's Word I can find–it basically seems our very existence depends on the Word! At least an existence worth living! There really is no problem, circumstance, sin, feeling, attack, or mindset–nothing at all that is not remedied through the Word. It is the answer to everything. Quite amazing.

Thanks for sharing this! Lots of treasures of truth tucked throughout your sentences. Love it. Might be copying that prayer and several things you said in my journal…. 🙂 Thank you!!
